Wike Appoints Idris as Procurement Aide

Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has appointed Alhaji Onsachi Musa Idris as Senior Special Assistant on Procurement, bringing the former procurement director back into public service in a new advisory role.

The appointment was announced on Friday and takes immediate effect. It came on the same day Idris retired from the civil service after years of service in the Federal Capital Territory Administration.

Idris served as Director of FCT Procurement from July 2021 until his retirement and was involved in managing procurement processes within the administration. Before that role, he held the position of Director of Common Services in charge of procurement and worked across several administrative and financial departments during his career.

According to details released on the appointment, Idris has more than three decades of experience in public administration, finance and procurement management. His experience in government service was said to have contributed to institutional operations and service delivery over the years.

His new role is expected to support the FCT administration in procurement-related matters, especially in areas involving compliance, project processes and administrative coordination.

The appointment also signals Wike’s continued reliance on experienced public officials in key areas of governance within the FCT.
