PDP Sounds Warning on Rising Insecurity, Failing Schools in Katsina

The Peoples Democratic Party in Katsina State, on May 5, 2026, in Katsina, raised concern about the state of security and education, stating that both sectors have declined in recent years and now affect daily life across the state.

The party made its position known during a thanksgiving event organised by students in honour of Senator Yakubu Lado, where the state chairman, Nura Amadi Kurfi, addressed attendees.

Kurfi explained that insecurity has spread across many communities in the state, making it harder for residents to carry out their normal activities. He noted that the situation has affected farming, business, and movement, creating fear among citizens. He also said schools have not been spared, as the learning environment has become less stable due to ongoing safety concerns.

He added that both security and education need urgent attention, as they play a key role in the growth of any society. According to him, the current condition has slowed down progress in different sectors and reversed gains made in the past. He compared the present situation with earlier years under PDP leadership in the state, saying that progress achieved during that period has declined.

Kurfi also blamed the current administration for failing to maintain earlier improvements, adding that this has led to setbacks in development. Despite this, he said the party believes the situation can still improve, noting that plans are in place to address the challenges if given the opportunity.

Speaking at the event, Senator Yakubu Lado thanked supporters for their trust and assured them of his commitment to work towards better leadership and improved conditions in the state.
