APP releases 2026 primary timetable

The Action Peoples Party has released its timetable for the 2026 primary elections ahead of the 2027 general elections in Nigeria. The schedule was approved by the party’s National Working Committee and announced to party members and aspirants across the country, including stakeholders in Imo State.

The party made the announcement through a statement issued on Friday by its Imo State Publicity Secretary, Steve Nnadi, in Owerri. According to the statement, pre-primary activities officially started on May 6, 2026, with the publication of notices for all elective positions.The APP stated that the sale and submission of nomination and expression of interest forms will continue from May 6 to May 25, while the list of cleared aspirants will be released on May 27, 2026.

Under the timetable released by the party, the presidential primary election will take place on May 27 at the party’s national headquarters. The governorship primary is fixed for May 30 at state secretariats across the country.The party also scheduled the senatorial primary for May 29 at senatorial district headquarters.

On the same day, the House of Representatives primary election will hold at federal constituency headquarters.According to the timetable, the House of Assembly primary election is expected to take place on May 30 at local government headquarters nationwide.

The APP also announced the fees approved for nomination and expression of interest forms for aspirants seeking different political offices ahead of the elections.For the presidential race, aspirants are expected to pay N77 million for the nomination form and N3 million for the expression of interest form.

Governorship aspirants will pay N7 million for nomination and N3 million for expression of interest. Those contesting for Senate seats are to pay N3 million for nomination and N2 million for expression of interest.The party fixed the nomination fee for House of Representatives aspirants at N3 million, while the expression of interest form costs N1 million.

For state House of Assembly aspirants, the nomination form costs N1 million, while the expression of interest form was fixed at N500,000.The APP also announced that women and persons living with disabilities would receive free nomination forms as part of efforts to encourage wider participation in the political process.

The party leadership added that preparations were ongoing to ensure peaceful, fair and credible primary elections at all levels before the 2027 general elections.
