Fintiri emerged unopposed in the race for the Adamawa North Senatorial District ticket after the current senator, Amos Yohanna, decided not to contest for another term. Party delegates and officials completed the process without opposition, giving the governor a smooth path to secure the ticket.

In Adamawa South, Tangwami won after a competitive primary involving former senator Grace Bent and retired federal permanent secretary Ismaila Numan. The contest attracted attention within the party before Tangwami was eventually declared winner.

While the party completed exercises in two districts, the primary election for Adamawa Central Senatorial District was suspended because election materials failed to arrive on time in some areas. Officials of the All Progressives Congress said the postponement was necessary to allow all local government areas participate under the same conditions.

Party leaders also disclosed that a new date for the Adamawa Central primary would be announced later. Some aspirants in the race believe the delay will allow contestants more time to meet delegates and continue consultations before voting resumes.

The development comes as political parties across Nigeria continue preparations and internal contests ahead of the 2027 general elections.
