APC Endorses Kebbi Gov Idris for Second Term

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has secured the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress for the 2027 election after receiving unanimous support from party delegates across the state. The decision was reached on Thursday during the party’s affirmation exercise held at Haliru Abdu Stadium in Birnin Kebbi.

The process ended with Idris standing as the only candidate for the party’s governorship ticket, following agreement among delegates drawn from all 225 wards in Kebbi State. Party members gathered in large numbers to support the governor’s return for another term in office.

Chairman of the APC Governorship Primary Election Committee, Abdulmalik Mahmud, said the exercise was mainly to complete the formal process because party members had already made their choice before the committee’s arrival in the state.

According to him, participation from all wards showed that the party remained united and that members had confidence in the governor’s administration. After confirming that the governor met all party and legal conditions, the committee officially declared Idris as the APC governorship candidate for the next election cycle.

Earlier, Kebbi APC Chairman Abubakar Kana-Zuru said the decision to adopt Idris followed agreement among party members across the state. He said the affirmation reflected the position of the party structure at ward level and the desire to keep the current administration in place beyond its first term.

In his response after receiving the ticket, Idris described the outcome as a renewed expression of trust from party members and residents of the state. He said the endorsement placed more responsibility on his administration to continue delivering projects and improving governance.

The governor promised to continue development efforts and work towards improving the lives of people across different communities in the state. He also said his administration would remain open and inclusive while building on projects already started during his current tenure.

Idris expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, members of the APC National Working Committee and stakeholders in Kebbi for their support and cooperation.

He also called for continued unity within the ruling party and urged residents to remain supportive of the administration’s plans. According to him, collective effort and cooperation would help the state sustain growth and achieve more progress in the coming years.
