Oborevwori Emerges Delta APC Governorship Candidate

Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the 2027 general election after securing victory in the party’s primary election held across the state on Thursday.

The governor contested unopposed in the direct primary and received 345,375 votes to earn the party’s ticket. The result was announced at the APC Secretariat in Asaba after the conclusion of the voting and collation process.

Chairman of the APC Governorship Primary Election Committee and Returning Officer, Vita Abba, confirmed the outcome and declared Oborevwori winner after stating that he fulfilled the party’s constitutional conditions and secured the required lawful votes.

Before the announcement of the result, Oborevwori cast his vote in Oha Ward in Okpe Local Government Area, where he described the direct primary method as part of the party’s internal democratic process.

The governor also called on party members to remain united as preparations continue for the 2027 general elections. He said efforts would continue within the party to strengthen relationships among members and maintain cooperation across the state.

Oborevwori added that the state APC leadership would sustain reconciliation efforts aimed at promoting stability and reducing internal divisions ahead of the election season.

Also reacting to the exercise, Delta State Deputy Governor Monday Onyeme said participation during the primary reflected support for the current administration and confidence in its direction.

The Delta APC Chairman, Solomon Arenyeka, commended party members for conducting the exercise peacefully and maintaining order throughout the process.

With the completion of the primary election, the APC has formally presented Oborevwori as its governorship candidate for Delta State, setting the stage for political activities ahead of the 2027 contest.
