After APC Exit, Bauchi Senator Shehu Buba Joins PRP

Senator Shehu Buba Umar, representing Bauchi South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has left the All Progressives Congress and joined the Peoples Redemption Party following his withdrawal from the APC governorship primary in Bauchi State.

The lawmaker announced his resignation from the ruling party on Sunday, saying the decision came after concerns over the conduct of the governorship primary and issues surrounding the party’s internal processes. His exit followed allegations that the exercise did not fully follow the party’s rules and lacked fairness.

According to Buba, his move was reached after consultations with political allies, community leaders, supporters, youth groups, women groups, and other stakeholders across Bauchi South and different parts of the state.

He said his new political platform aligns with values centred on accountability, fairness, inclusion, transparency, and leadership focused on public interest.

The senator explained that his decision was driven by a desire to support democratic participation and protect the interests of people in the state through what he described as more responsive representation.

Buba maintained that political parties must create room for fairness, equal opportunities, and active involvement of members if democracy is to function effectively.

He also said Nigeria’s current challenges require leaders willing to focus on governance, economic recovery, security, employment, and improving living conditions for citizens.

The senator stated that people deserve leadership that pays attention to their concerns and places development and service above political interests.

As part of his next political move, Buba pledged to continue pursuing programmes and policies aimed at improving the welfare of ordinary residents and advancing development across Bauchi State.

He also called on his supporters and associates to join him in his new political journey, which he said would focus on accountability, social justice, and better governance.

The lawmaker assured residents of Bauchi that his commitment to their progress and representation remains unchanged despite his change of party affiliation.
