The Federal Capital Territory Administration has supplied 48 vein-finding machines along with accessories to 14 hospitals under the Hospitals Management Board in Abuja. The equipment was provided through the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, as part of efforts to improve medical services across public health facilities.

According to the Mandate Secretary of the Health Services and Environment Secretariat, Dr. Dolapo Fasawe, the devices are important for improving how healthcare workers locate veins during treatment. The machines are designed to help medical staff carry out procedures such as inserting intravenous lines and collecting blood samples with more accuracy and less discomfort for patients.

The device also helps reduce repeated needle pricks, especially in difficult cases such as children, elderly patients, and people with obesity. It allows doctors and nurses to see vein patterns more clearly, making procedures faster and more efficient.

As part of the rollout, health workers from the beneficiary hospitals took part in practical training sessions on how to use, handle, and maintain the equipment. The training was aimed at ensuring proper use of the devices and long-term effectiveness in hospitals.
The FCTA said the initiative is part of ongoing efforts to improve patient care, reduce pain during treatment, and support medical personnel with modern tools for better service delivery across health facilities in the territory.
