Ekiti Election: EFCC, Immigration, Amotekun Deployed to Oyebanji’s Voting Centre

A heavy security presence was recorded at the polling unit where Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji was scheduled to vote during Saturday’s local government election in the state.

Personnel from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, the Nigeria Immigration Service, and the Amotekun Corps arrived at the venue early and took up positions around the polling area. Their deployment formed part of measures put in place to ensure a smooth electoral exercise and prevent any actions that could disrupt voting.

The officers were stationed at strategic points within and around the polling centre to monitor activities and maintain public order throughout the exercise. Their presence was also aimed at discouraging vote buying and other forms of electoral misconduct.

The local government election is taking place across the 16 local government areas of Ekiti State under the supervision of the Ekiti State Independent Electoral Commission. Residents are voting to elect chairmen and councillors who will oversee affairs at the grassroots level.

Several political parties are participating in the election, including the All Progressives Congress, Peoples Democratic Party, African Democratic Congress, Labour Party, New Nigeria Peoples Party, Accord Party, Action Peoples Party, and Action Democratic Party, among others.

The election has attracted attention from political observers and stakeholders who see it as an important test of party strength and voter support across the state.

As voting continues in different parts of Ekiti, security agencies remain on alert to ensure the process is conducted peacefully and in line with electoral regulations.
