Obi made the remark on Sunday after meeting with students of Madonna University in Okija, Anambra State. He shared details of the visit on his Facebook page, saying the discussion gave him the chance to hear directly from young Nigerians about the challenges facing the country.

According to him, many of the students spoke about poor leadership, corruption and the lack of opportunities available to young people. He noted that these issues have made it difficult for many Nigerians to reach their full potential.

Despite the concerns raised during the session, Obi said he was encouraged by the students’ determination to contribute to the country’s future. He described their interest in national issues as a sign that many young people are ready to play active roles in building a better Nigeria.
The former Anambra State governor said the quality of leadership remains one of the biggest factors that determine whether a nation succeeds or fails. He explained that leaders should possess good character, the right skills, the ability to deliver results and genuine concern for the welfare of the people. He also said true leadership requires personal sacrifice for the common good.
Obi maintained that Nigeria’s future depends on leaders who will protect lives, improve the education sector, create more opportunities for citizens and strengthen public institutions. He added that building such a generation of leaders would place the country on the path to growth and help create the Nigeria many citizens hope to see.
