Tinubu Praises Wike’s Commitment to FCT Projects

President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for his commitment to delivering infrastructure projects, saying the minister remains focused on completing every assignment given to him.

The President made the remarks in Abuja while commissioning the newly completed Collector Road C01 and its bridge in the Institution and Research District of the Federal Capital Territory.

Tinubu, who was represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the ceremony, said the development taking place in Abuja reflects the wider plans of his administration to improve infrastructure across Nigeria. He stated that the completion of the road project showed that his government was fulfilling its promises through the Renewed Hope Agenda instead of leaving projects unfinished.

The President said the construction of roads and other public facilities would continue because they improve movement, attract investment and create opportunities for economic growth. He added that the progress recorded in the Federal Capital Territory would be extended to other cities, satellite towns and rural communities so that more Nigerians could benefit from development projects.

Tinubu recalled that the project was approved after concerns were raised by the Body of Benchers during the Nigerian Law School Call to Bar ceremony last year over poor road access and heavy traffic around the Institution and Research District.

According to him, the administration acted quickly by approving the project through emergency procurement, leading to its completion within a short period.

He said the road has improved access to educational and professional institutions in the district while also easing traffic for residents and visitors. The President added that the construction created employment opportunities for many Nigerians and showed the economic value of investing in infrastructure.

Tinubu also praised Wike for delivering projects across the Federal Capital Territory, describing him as a dedicated public official who remains committed until every assignment is completed.

Speaking at the event, Wike disclosed that the inauguration was the 21st project commissioned in the FCT under the current administration.

He thanked the President for providing the financial support needed to execute projects, adding that removing the FCT Administration from the Treasury Single Account had improved access to funds and sped up project delivery.

The Minister of State for the FCT, Mariya Mahmoud, also appreciated the President for supporting infrastructure development in the capital city and assured him that residents would protect the facilities.

The Acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority, Richard Dauda, explained that the newly completed road includes a bridge, underground drainage system and solar-powered streetlights.

He said the project would improve access to research centres, educational institutions and neighbouring communities while supporting the objectives of the Abuja Master Plan.
