Makinde Reshuffles Cabinet, Swears In New Commissioner

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde on Monday carried out a minor cabinet reshuffle and swore in Dr. Taiwo Ladipo as a commissioner, while urging political appointees and public servants to increase their efforts as his administration moves closer to the end of its second term.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Executive Chambers of the Governor’s Office in Agodi, Ibadan. Makinde said the remaining months of his administration present an opportunity for government officials to deliver more projects and leave behind achievements that would benefit the people of the state.

Ladipo, who previously served as Commissioner for Health before becoming Permanent Secretary for General Administration, has now been assigned to the Ministry of Establishments and Training. As part of the changes, Prof. Solihu Adelabu was moved to the Ministry of Investment, Trade, Cooperatives and Industry.

The governor said appointments into his administration would continue to be based on the government’s development plans and the ability of individuals to contribute to those goals. He also explained that changes within the cabinet should not be viewed negatively, saying they are meant to improve service delivery and strengthen government performance.

Makinde congratulated Ladipo on his appointment and reminded him that the new role comes with greater responsibility to serve the people of Oyo State with commitment and dedication. He also urged all political appointees to remain loyal to the administration, carry out their duties responsibly and continue working for the growth and development of the state.

According to the governor, the administration is determined to complete its tenure on a strong note and ensure that ongoing programmes and projects are delivered successfully before the end of its second term.

The event was attended by Deputy Governor Bayo Lawal, Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly Adebo Ogundoyin, Secretary to the State Government Prof. Olanike Adeyemo, Chief of Staff Segun Ogunwuyi, Head of Service Mrs. Olubunmi Oni, Deputy Chief of Staff Kazim Adeniyi, commissioners, permanent secretaries and other senior government officials.
