2027: Bwala Dismisses Makinde, Sowore’s Presidential Chances

President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has dismissed the presidential prospects of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore ahead of the 2027 general election. Bwala made the remarks during an interview with Symfoni TV while discussing the political strength of potential contenders in the race.

According to Bwala, available political data and electoral calculations do not place Makinde among the leading figures capable of winning the presidency. He argued that the Oyo State governor has not built enough political influence beyond his home state and lacks the national reach needed to compete successfully in a presidential election.

The presidential aide also said Makinde has not developed strong political relationships across different parts of the country. He added that anyone seeking the nation’s highest office must have widespread recognition, alliances and support that extend beyond a single state or region.

Bwala further claimed that Makinde could face difficulties even in securing victory in a presidential contest within Oyo State, insisting that the governor’s political profile remains limited compared to other national figures.

Speaking on Sowore, Bwala said the AAC presidential candidate enjoys wider public recognition across Nigeria than Makinde. He noted that many Nigerians are familiar with Sowore and have a positive opinion of him because of his years in public activism and national politics.

Despite acknowledging Sowore’s visibility, Bwala maintained that the former presidential candidate also lacks the political strength required to make a serious impact in the 2027 presidential election. He concluded that neither Makinde nor Sowore currently poses a major challenge in the race for Nigeria’s presidency.
