The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed reports claiming it endorsed President Bola Tinubu and his administration ahead of the 2027 general elections. The party made its position known on Tuesday through a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Christopher Odianarewo, describing the report as false and misleading.
The party said the publication making the rounds did not come from any recognised organ of the PDP. It maintained that President Tinubu is not a member of the party and that it has never declared support for him, his government or the policies of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to the Lagos PDP, the statement being circulated lacked the features of an official party communication. It noted that the document had no identifiable author, official party logo, signature or approval from any authorised leadership of the party. The chapter said the publication appeared to have been created to mislead the public and cause confusion among party members.
The party also reaffirmed its recognition of the Interim National Working Committee led by Dr. Tanimu Turaki (SAN) and the Board of Trustees headed by Senator Adolphus Wabara as the legitimate leadership of the PDP.
It added that it remains committed to democratic values, due process and the rule of law, while promising to continue protecting the unity of the party against actions capable of causing division.
The Lagos PDP urged its members, supporters, stakeholders, media organisations and the general public to ignore the alleged endorsement and remain cautious of false information. It also restated its resolve to present itself as a credible political alternative for Nigerians in future elections.
