2027: ADC says PDP helping APC by splitting opposition votes

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of weakening the opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections by dividing votes that could otherwise go against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The allegation was made during the Jigawa South-West ADC stakeholders’ meeting held in Dutse over the weekend.

The party’s governorship candidate in Jigawa State, Senator Sabo Muhammad Nakudu, spoke through his running mate, Malam Aminu Ibrahim Ringim. He said backing the PDP in the next election would only benefit the APC because the opposition remains divided.

According to the ADC, the PDP has not presented a clear presidential candidate for the 2027 election and continues to struggle with internal divisions. The party argued that these issues have weakened the PDP’s ability to serve as a strong opposition force capable of challenging the APC at the national level.

The ADC maintained that Nigerians have already experienced governments led by both the APC and the PDP. It urged voters to support the ADC, describing it as a better political option with the capacity to provide effective leadership and improve governance across the country.

The party also revealed that it is holding talks with influential political figures across Jigawa State as part of efforts to strengthen its structure before the general elections. It expressed confidence that more politicians and supporters from other parties would soon join its ranks.

The ADC said its current focus is to increase its presence at the grassroots by encouraging more people to become members. It called on party candidates, officials and supporters to intensify mobilisation in their communities to build support ahead of the polls.

The party added that commitment, teamwork and sustained engagement with voters would play a major role in achieving success in the 2027 elections. It expressed confidence that expanding its support base and strengthening its grassroots network would improve its chances at the polls.
