Hashim Camp Rejects Tinubu Endorsement, Insists on Accord Mandate

The Gbenga Hashim Solidarity Movement (GHSM) has rejected the reported endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election by some Accord Party officials at the Osun State Government House. The group, which made its position known on Monday, said the gathering had no constitutional backing and could not determine the party’s presidential direction.

In a statement issued by its National Coordinator, GHSM maintained that Dr. Gbenga Hashim remains the valid presidential candidate of the Accord Party. According to the group, Hashim secured the party’s ticket through a nationwide direct primary conducted on May 30, 2026, in line with the Electoral Act and the guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The movement argued that only the recognised structures of the Accord Party have the authority to decide matters relating to its presidential candidate. It said political meetings or endorsements held outside those structures cannot cancel or replace the mandate already given to Hashim by party members.

GHSM also dismissed the reported endorsement of President Tinubu, describing it as having no effect on the party’s presidential ticket. The group claimed there were ongoing efforts to weaken Hashim’s ambition ahead of the 2027 general election.

The movement further accused Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke of interfering in the internal affairs of the Accord Party. It alleged that government resources were being used to influence party matters, an action it said was unacceptable.

According to the group, Nigerians would decide the outcome of the 2027 presidential election through the ballot and not through endorsements made in government houses. It expressed confidence that Hashim remained a strong alternative and said supporters across the country’s 774 local government areas would continue mobilising for his campaign.

GHSM also disclosed that the dispute over the Accord Party’s presidential nomination is still before the Federal High Court in Abuja. It said court proceedings have ended and the parties are waiting for judgment. The group added that it would continue to pursue the matter through all available legal channels until a final decision is reached.
