ADC Vows to Protect Votes, Rejects Trust in INEC for 2027

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has said it will not depend on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to safeguard its votes during the 2027 general elections.

The party made this known on Wednesday in Ilorin, Kwara State, during a public awareness walk organised to inform residents about its activities and preparations for the next general election.

Speaking to journalists at the event, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said the ADC had resolved to take full responsibility for protecting every vote cast for its candidates across the country. He explained that while the party believes some officials within INEC are committed to carrying out their duties, it would not rely entirely on the commission to guarantee a credible electoral process.

Abdullahi said the party’s decision was influenced by its experience during the 2023 general election, which it believes did not meet its expectations. He stated that the ADC had learned from that experience and would adopt measures to ensure its votes are secured throughout the election period.

He also expressed confidence that the party could defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election if it successfully protects its votes. According to him, the ADC already has plans in place to achieve that goal but would not reveal the details publicly.

The party maintained that it is fully committed to contesting the 2027 elections and remains focused on strengthening its support base across the country as political activities continue ahead of the polls.
