National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Seriake Dickson, has assured Nigerians that every valid vote will count in the 2027 general elections, expressing confidence that the wishes of the electorate will determine the outcome of the polls.
Dickson gave the assurance on Wednesday through a post on his verified X account, where he said the will of the people would remain above the personal ambitions of politicians. He maintained that no individual or group would be allowed to manipulate the electoral process or deny citizens the opportunity to freely choose their leaders.
The former Bayelsa State governor also warned against the use of violence, intimidation and security personnel to influence election results. He said those who believe they can rely on force, unlawful tactics or falsified election results to secure victory would not succeed.
According to him, the NDC is committed to ensuring that the electoral process reflects the genuine choice of Nigerians. He added that the party would continue to encourage lawful participation while remaining alert against any attempt to interfere with the democratic process.
Dickson called on party members and supporters across the country to remain united, vigilant and peaceful as preparations for the 2027 elections continue. He urged them to resist every form of intimidation, oppression, inducement and electoral malpractice through legal and democratic means.
He also expressed appreciation to Nigerians for their support and prayers, saying the party’s candidates would continue to work towards earning the trust of the electorate.
The NDC leader further stated that his political camp had previously overcome the influence of those in power during past elections and remained confident of achieving similar results in the next general election through the support of the people and a credible electoral process.
