The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has published the final list of 122 candidates contesting the National Assembly elections in Ondo State in the 2027 general elections.
The list, released in Akure on Sunday, contains 31 candidates for the three senatorial districts and 91 candidates for the House of Representatives seats across the state.
INEC also published the names of 18 presidential candidates and their political parties as part of the final list for the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections.
The commission’s Head of Voter Education and Publicity in Ondo State, Ogunseye Olayinka, announced the release in a statement issued on behalf of the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Mutiu Agboke.
Olayinka said the publication was carried out in line with the timetable and schedule approved by INEC for the 2027 elections.
He explained that September 12 was the deadline set by the commission for publishing the final list of candidates for the presidential and National Assembly elections.
According to him, the release was also done in accordance with Section 32(1) of the Electoral Act 2026.
INEC urged political parties, candidates, voters and other interested members of the public to visit its offices across Ondo State to inspect the complete list.
The commission said the list could be viewed at its state office in Akure as well as its offices in the various Local Government Areas.
The release of the final list is part of INEC’s preparations for the presidential and National Assembly elections scheduled for January 2027.
The electoral body said it remained focused on ensuring that the election process in Ondo State was open, fair and credible.
INEC also assured residents and other stakeholders that the outcome of the elections would be determined by votes legally cast by voters and properly counted in line with the law.
The commission’s state leadership appealed to political parties and candidates to follow the electoral rules as the country moves closer to the 2027 general elections.
The publication gives political parties and candidates a clearer picture of those taking part in the National Assembly contests in Ondo State and marks another stage in the preparations for the polls.
