The Progressive Governors Forum has said governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will not support any political alliance or arrangement that could work against President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 general elections.

The Chairman of the forum and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, disclosed this on Monday night after a closed-door meeting with other APC governors at the Imo State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja.
Uzodimma said the governors had agreed to remain committed to the APC and support candidates presented by the party for the 2027 elections.
He explained that the forum would not back any political arrangement that could create divided loyalty among APC members, weaken the party or work against its candidates at any level.
According to him, the governors’ main responsibility ahead of the election is to strengthen the party’s campaign structure and support its candidates across the country.

He said APC governors would not participate in or endorse alliances involving candidates outside the party, stressing that the party’s candidates were contesting under the APC platform and deserved the support of its elected officials.
The forum also resolved that its campaign activities would remain in line with Tinubu’s re-election campaign and the wider objectives of the APC.
The declaration comes as political parties and opposition groups continue to form alliances and make preparations for the 2027 elections.
The APC governors’ position is expected to further shape the political battle ahead of the election, particularly as different groups seek support from influential political figures and elected officials across the country.
The governors maintained that their priority would remain the success of APC candidates and the party’s electoral campaign in 2027.
