Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has denied being part of the Lagos State All Progressives Congress campaign council for the 2027 elections, saying she has chosen to stay away from political activities.

Abraham made her position known on Thursday, September 17, 2026, after her name appeared on a list of members of the Lagos APC campaign council unveiled ahead of the 2027 general election.
The actress was listed under the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate of the council alongside several other entertainers, including Jide Kosoko, Eniola Badmus, Bimbo Akintola, Adebayo Salami, Saheed Balogun and Bukky Wright.
Fuji musicians such as Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, Obesere and Adewale Ayuba were also named among members of the directorate.
However, Abraham rejected the reported appointment in a post on her Instagram Story, stating that she had not joined the campaign council and had already made her decision to remain outside politics known.
Her latest position comes years after she became involved in political controversy following her public support for President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election.
The actress faced strong reactions from some social media users after publicly backing Tinubu during the election. The backlash extended to calls for some of the brands and platforms associated with her to distance themselves from her.
In March 2023, Abraham discussed the criticism during a Twitter Space, where she spoke about petitions allegedly sent to Netflix seeking the removal of her films from the streaming platform.
She also disclosed that some people had called on Checkers Custard, a brand she represented, to end its relationship with her. The actress further complained about receiving abusive messages directed at her, her husband, Kolawole Ajeyemi, and their son.

The criticism continued after the election, with Abraham remaining a target of political attacks on social media.
The situation later became more serious in 2024 when the actress took steps against some individuals over what she described as cyberbullying and defamatory claims involving her and her family.
One case involved an X user known as Big Ayo, who allegedly accused Abraham of using money connected to Tinubu to fund a hair transplant for her husband. Abraham rejected the claim and petitioned the cybercrime authorities over the matter.
She later denied reports that she had arranged for the man’s mother to be arrested, explaining that her complaint was related to alleged cyberbullying and defamatory material.
The man was subsequently released from police custody after public reactions and appeals for his release.
The incident led to another round of criticism against Abraham, with some social media users calling for her movies to be removed from streaming platforms.
In July 2024, the actress also spoke publicly about the pressure she had faced from online attacks and described the situation as deeply distressing. She maintained that she had acted within her rights by reporting the matter to the relevant authorities.
Abraham also made it clear during the period that while she could endure personal insults, she would not accept attacks involving her children.
Meanwhile, the Lagos APC campaign council’s published list still contains Abraham’s name as one of the 33 members of the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate despite her public denial.
Toke Benson-Awoyinka is listed as the director of the unit, with Jide Kosoko serving as co-director and Eniola Badmus as deputy director.
Abraham’s latest clarification therefore places her outside the campaign structure despite her name appearing on the official list released by the Lagos APC.
