The Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, and the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have said the party is working to secure strong support in the state ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the APC targeting 2.5 million votes for President Bola Tinubu.

Okpebholo made the remarks on Tuesday during an APC mobilisation rally in Ologbo Wards 9 and 10 of Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, where he presented the party’s candidates for the 2027 elections.
The governor said the APC had developed structures across Edo State and was using the ongoing mobilisation exercise to strengthen its grassroots presence ahead of the polls.
He urged party members to remain united and support the APC candidates while continuing to engage residents across their communities.
During the rally, Okpebholo presented Ogbeide Ihama as the party’s candidate for the Senate, Felix Igbinovia for the House of Representatives and Clement Ikponmwonsa for the Edo State House of Assembly.
He also appealed to party members and supporters to work for the success of the candidates and said his administration would continue to pursue development programmes across the state.
The governor thanked residents for their support and also appreciated those who attended the rally despite the rainfall. He expressed confidence that the APC could further strengthen its support base across Edo ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking at the event, the Edo APC Chairman, Jarrett Tenebe, said the party had set a target of 2.5 million votes for Tinubu in the state in the 2027 presidential election.
Tenebe said the party had begun mobilisation across the 18 local government areas as part of efforts to reach the target.

He also said Okpebholo and his deputy, Philip Shaibu, had been visiting communities and meeting with party members as the APC prepares for the next general elections.
The party chairman called on members to work together towards achieving the APC’s electoral objectives in the state.
The APC chairman in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, Sunny Ogbewe, said the governor’s visit had boosted party activities in the area.
Ogbewe said Ikpoba-Okha has a large number of registered voters and that the party would intensify its mobilisation efforts in the area ahead of the elections.
He said APC members would continue engaging residents and supporters while seeking greater backing for the party’s candidates.
Ogbewe also praised the governor for projects and other government interventions in the local government area, saying the party would continue supporting the administration’s development efforts.
He further commended the chairman of the Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Council for working with the state government on its development plans.
The rally formed part of the APC’s wider mobilisation activities across Edo State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party has previously announced its 2.5 million-vote target for Tinubu, including after its claimed performance in the 2026 local government elections. The target is a political commitment by the Edo APC and not a confirmed election result.
