Justice Musa Kakaki of the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos, has denied the bail applications of businessman Afolabi Michael Kazeem, also known as KC Luxury, and two others.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arraigned the three men on a 21-count charge of alleged cocaine trafficking and other charges.
The judge noted that his decision to exercise his discretion is denied the bail applications of the defendants is due to the gravity of the alleged offences, the severity of the punishment, if found guilty, and their likelihood to jump bail.
The court also noted that the prevalence of trafficking of hard drugs has become a menace to society.
KC Luxury, who alone is arraigned on 21 of the 22 counts, was arrested on August 13, 2026, at the departure hall of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, while attempting to travel to Paris, France.
The other defendants are Boniface Sule and Ikechukwu Ekugo. They all pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The arrest and arraignment follow the seizure of 184.5kg of cocaine at DHL, Ikeja, Lagos, with the agency alleging that KC Luxury was connected to the shipment.
KC Luxury is also alleged to have conspired with two more persons, Atandare Oladipupo Oluwarotimi and Latifat Yusuf, both said to have been arrested in London in connection with the same case, to export the narcotic drugs under the shipper, KC Luxury’s, pseudonym, Yemi Ejide.
The case has however been adjourned to Monday, November 2nd to Thursday, November 5, 2026 for daily hearings.
