2027 Election: I Have Faith in God That Tinubu Will Return, And We Will Win the Five Southeast States— Works Minister, Dave Umahi

Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will be re-elected in the 2027 presidential election, attributing his belief to his faith in God.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Umahi said Tinubu assumed office at a challenging period, with several obstacles confronting his administration.

He said working closely with the President had also given him the impression that Tinubu has “a good heart” and “good intentions.”

“I have faith in God that the President will return because he came at a very challenging period. All manner of obstacles were thrown in his way, but power belongs to God,” Umahi said.

The minister also defended Tinubu’s conduct regarding government appointments, saying the President had never asked him to award jobs to specific individuals.

Umahi further expressed optimism about the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s chances in the Southeast, saying he believes the party could secure all five states in the region.

“I will not tell you whether we will win the five votes of the Southeast or not, but the President is going to harvest a lot of votes in the Southeast. My faith is telling me we will win the five states,” he said.

He also urged Nigerians to move beyond regional politics, stressing the need for cooperation across the country.

“We shouldn’t play regional politics because it doesn’t help us. As a region, we should be able to have a handshake across the Niger,” he added.
