The minister made the statement on Thursday during a town hall meeting in Abonnema, Akuku-Toru LGA, where he called on the people to support Tinubu’s re-election bid and other APC candidates.

He also urged residents to vote for the APC governorship candidate, Kinsley Chinda, as well as the party’s candidates for the Senate, House of Representatives and Rivers State House of Assembly.

Wike said the political structure being mobilised across Rivers State was aligned with Tinubu and the APC ahead of the January 16, 2027 election.

He described the APC as the strongest political platform for the forthcoming polls and warned residents against voting for candidates contesting on other party platforms.

The former Rivers State governor specifically spoke against supporting a governorship aspirant from Akuku-Toru who is contesting under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to Wike, although the people might want someone from their community to become governor, they should consider the political platform on which the individual is contesting.

He argued that the NDC lacked the political strength to win the presidential and governorship elections, adding that supporting such a candidate would not advance the interests of the area.

Wike also dismissed the possibility of opposition parties presenting a formidable challenge to Tinubu in 2027, pointing to the crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the difficulty of forming a strong opposition coalition.

He maintained that the political situation required Rivers residents to continue supporting the president.
