One of the disengaged staff of the Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado Ekiti, Mr Tope Olaiya died today.

This is coming four days after a staff of the university’s law faculty, Mr. Ogunseesin, popularly known as “Agba Ogun” died in his office. He was found resting his head on his office table, foaming in the mouth in the morning of Friday, August 14, 2020.

One of the disengaged workers told our reporter that Tope Olaiya died at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti at about 6pm today.
He was said to be the leader of those employed in 2016 among the disengaged staff.
Though cause of the sudden death was unknown as at the time of filing this report, our reporter learnt that Olaiya fell into coma as a result of low blood pressure.
Over 1,000 workers of the university were sacked last year December, less than four months after Prof. Eddy Olanipekun was appointed as Vice Chancellor.
Most affected were workers employed between 2016 and 2018.
Some of the affected workers went to the Industrial Court in Akure, Ondo State to challenge their disengagement and the matter is still pending.
