South-South Youth Caucus Makes Case For South-South As Atiku’s Running Mate, Insists On Udom Emmanuel

The South-South Youth Caucus in its 47th Mid-Year General Meeting held at its National Secretariat, Azikoro Street, Yenagoa, Bayelsa, Nigeria, resolves as follows:

1. That it has reviewed the election that led to the emergence of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and concluded that because of the need to give the region a sense of belonging having deprived the region of producing the president in 2023, only someone from the South-South region can guarantee the party’s victory in the 2023 general election.
2. That for the party to have a successful outing having secured the ticket to the North, there is the need for the party to have a credible and acceptable candidate to run with Alhaji Atiku Abubakar at the 2023 general election.
3. That the PDP and its presidential flag bearer Alhaji Atiku Abubakar should halt the search for a running mate outside the South-South region and choose a governor from the South-South.
4. That the Party should cease the search and focus on Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom state whose antecedent and impressive performance as governor of Akwa Ibom state has increased the fortune of the state, secure, and placed it on peace and prosperity.
5. That Governor Udom Emmanuel’s charisma, godliness, and experience as a successful banker will be a valuable asset to the Atiku Abubakar presidency.
6. That the PDP should utilize the great goodwill and support base that Governor Udom has among the stakeholders and ordinary Nigerians enlisting him to run with Atiku Abubakar in 2023.
