The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Niger State has intercepted a truck loaded with telecommunication masts worth millions of naira, alongside a Sharon vehicle carrying mining products.
The State Commandant, Suberu Siyaka Aniviye, revealed that the operation was carried out by the command’s anti-vandal unit following intelligence reports. The team moved to the Tafa-Suleja axis, where two suspects identified as Mustapha Aliyu and Abubakar Safyanu were arrested.
Both men have already been charged in court for prosecution.In another operation, the NSCDC arrested seven men for illegal mining activities at Kataeregi along Bida Road.
They were caught with a Sharon vehicle packed with mining products. One of the suspects, Mahmoud Idris from Zuzungi in Katcha Local Government Area, confessed to being involved in the act.
The command said it will continue its operations to stop vandalism, illegal mining, and other crimes that endanger infrastructure and economic growth in the state.
