Late Arise TV Anchor Somtochukwu Maduagwu to Be Buried October 18

Arise News has announced that its late journalist, Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, who was killed during an armed robbery in Abuja, will be buried on Saturday, October 18, 2025, in her hometown, Agulu, Anambra State.

According to the station, a night of tributes will take place on Sunday, October 12, at the THISDAY Dome in Abuja, followed by a service of songs on Wednesday, October 15, at the Corpus Christi Cathedral in Port Harcourt.

Before her burial, a funeral mass will be held at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Agulu.Maduagwu, aged 29, was a lawyer, model, reporter, and producer. She lost her life alongside a security guard, Barnabas Danlami, during the attack on her home in Katampe, Abuja, on September 29.

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has since arrested 12 suspects in connection with the killing. The command revealed that the gang obtained their weapons, including a pump-action gun, pistol, and locally made AK-47 rifle, from an arms dealer in the Niger Republic.

The police further disclosed that all arrested suspects are from Kaduna and Katsina States and are cooperating with ongoing investigations.

Commissioner of Police Ajao Adewale reportedly assigned a special team led by DCP Aliyu Abubakar to dismantle the criminal network responsible for the crime.
