The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to open an investigation into Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, following claims that he offered cash rewards to influence voters ahead of the November 8 governorship election.

The party’s call followed a statement by Governor Soludo during a political rally in Umunze, Orumba South Local Government Area, where he reportedly promised monetary incentives to communities that deliver votes for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

According to reports, Soludo pledged ₦1 million to each ward that secures victory for his party and additional cash prizes of ₦5 million, ₦2 million, and ₦1 million for the top three performing wards.

Reacting to the development, ADC National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, described the governor’s action as an attempt to sway voters and undermine the fairness of the electoral process.
He said the alleged pledge contradicts Sections 121 and 127 of the Electoral Act, which prohibit voter inducement in any form.Abdullahi urged INEC to treat the matter seriously and ensure that the integrity of the upcoming election is not compromised by any act of vote-buying or electoral malpractice.
The Anambra governorship election is scheduled to hold on November 8, 2025, with several political parties, including APGA, ADC, PDP, and APC, contesting for the state’s top seat.
