Gov Radda Appoints Hadi Sirika as Chairman of Katsina University Council

Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State has appointed former Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University (UMYU), Katsina.

The announcement was made in a statement from the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, signed by the Director of Press, Ibrahim Almu-Gafai. According to the statement, the appointment takes effect from October 2025 and will last for an initial tenure of one year.

The state government explained that the appointment followed the governor’s recognition of Sirika’s experience, leadership skills, and contributions to national development. The governor urged him to apply his knowledge and background to strengthen the institution’s administration and promote academic excellence.

Hadi Sirika, who hails from Dubawa in Dutsi Local Government Area, Katsina State, was born on March 2, 1964. He is a trained pilot and holds a Master’s degree in Aviation Management. He received his training at the Petroleum Helicopter Institute, Flight Safety International, and Delta Aeronautics in the United States.

Before becoming Minister of Aviation from 2019 to 2023 under former President Muhammadu Buhari, Sirika had served as a member of the House of Representatives representing Mashi/Dutsi Federal Constituency from 2003 to 2007 and later as Senator for Katsina North between 2011 and 2015.

The Katsina State Government congratulated Sirika on his new role and expressed confidence that his vast experience in both public service and aviation management would contribute to the growth and progress of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University.
