The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has dismissed claims of being displeased with the presidential ambition of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, stressing that no one has the power to control or influence him.

Speaking during a television interview in Abuja on Tuesday night, Wike addressed reports suggesting tension between him and Makinde within the Peoples Democratic Party. He made it clear that he remains independent in thought and action and cannot be dictated to by anyone.

The minister explained that if Makinde was truly serious about contesting the presidency, he would not allow the current internal crisis within the PDP to persist. According to Wike, leadership ambition should come with responsibility and the ability to stabilize the party rather than contribute to division.

He further stated that becoming a presidential candidate requires more than qualifications or titles, noting that some individuals are only interested in seeking power without genuine plans for unity or governance.
Wike, a former governor of Rivers State and one of the influential figures in the PDP, reaffirmed his stance as a politician who cannot be manipulated or easily swayed by personal interests, adding that he remains focused on his duties as FCT Minister.
