The candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has taken a sweeping victory across all 21 local government areas in the Anambra State governorship election held on Saturday, November 8, 2025.

The election results were announced at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Collation Centre in Awka, the state capital, after hours of collation and verification. The announcement began around midnight and lasted until early Sunday morning, under the supervision of the Returning Officer, Professor Edogah Omoregie, who also serves as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin. Party agents, journalists, and other electoral officials were present during the process.

From the official figures released by INEC, APGA secured a total of 422,664 votes, placing Soludo far ahead of his closest rival from the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 99,445 votes. The Labour Party (LP) came third with 10,505 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) recorded 1,401 votes.

The results were collated from all 5,718 polling units across the 21 LGAs, with each area confirming Soludo’s lead. Some of the LGAs where APGA recorded high votes include Aguata, Njikoka, Awka South, Idemili North, and Onitsha North.
Although the official declaration of the winner is still pending, INEC officials confirmed that the final computation and verification are underway. However, the pattern of results already points to an overwhelming victory for Soludo, who currently serves as the incumbent governor of Anambra State.
The election process, according to reports from observers, was largely peaceful, though voter turnout varied across local government areas. The final declaration of the winner by INEC is expected to follow shortly after the concluding checks and confirmation of the submitted figures.
