The Federal Capital Territory Administration is preparing to launch a new programme aimed at improving household health and protecting the environment in Abuja. The event, which will take place on Saturday, November 15, 2025, will introduce the Project Breathe Clean Air Abuja, an initiative driven by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.

The launch will hold at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre and will gather health experts, environmental groups, students, development partners, and government officials. The project promotes the use of clean cooking gas instead of firewood and charcoal, a move expected to reduce the dangers linked to household smoke and support safer living conditions.

The Mandate Secretary, Dr. Dolapo Fasawe, explained that the programme was created to support better public health and improve the environment across the capital city. She also appreciated the support of the FCT Minister and IHS Nigeria, which is partnering on the project.

A key part of the six-month rollout is the distribution of 5,000 gas cylinders to families across the six area councils, with the goal of helping households replace firewood and charcoal with cleaner options.
