Governors of the South-West region gathered in Ibadan, Oyo State, for an urgent meeting to discuss growing security threats in their states. The meeting was called following concerns about the movement of bandits and other criminal groups from outside the region into the South-West. Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo, and Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti were present in person. The Osun State governor, Ademola Adeleke, did not attend physically but sent his deputy to represent the state at the meeting.

The governors also reviewed broader regional matters, including infrastructure development and plans to strengthen cooperation among the South-West states. They discussed ways to improve joint efforts under the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria to ensure stronger unity and faster development across the region.

Part of the discussions focused on the performance of the Amotekun Corps, the regional security outfit. The governors looked at how to boost its capacity and improve its operations to handle new security challenges.
