The Rivers State House of Assembly on Wednesday endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term, saying the state had benefited from several Federal Government projects since he took office. The endorsement took place during the 37th Legislative Session in Port Harcourt and was presented through a motion supported by 26 lawmakers.

The lawmakers said they reached the decision to support the President because they want the Federal Government’s projects in the state to continue. They also pointed to the President’s role during the heated political crisis in Rivers State and noted that his actions at the time helped calm tensions.

The Assembly members also praised the appointments of key Rivers indigenes into Federal Government positions, saying the move has improved the state’s relationship with Abuja and raised the confidence of political actors across the state.

Speaker Martin Amaewhule described the President as a leader who is concerned about national progress. He also welcomed the economic policies introduced by the administration, adding that they were already creating impact in many communities.
The lawmakers said they would work with local leaders to build more support for the Renewed Hope Agenda. They also assured the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, of their full loyalty as political activities ahead of future elections begin to take shape.
