In Osun State, over 1,600 delegates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) assembled to select the party’s governorship candidate ahead of the 2026 elections. The accreditation process for the delegates was completed around 10 a.m., allowing the primary voting to begin shortly after.

The delegates were chosen based on representation from local governments and the party’s area office in Modakeke, with five delegates allocated per unit, totaling 1,660 participants. The venue quickly filled with delegates, security personnel, election observers, and officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

While delegates were ready for the exercise, the Chairman of the Primary Committee, Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, along with other APC officials from the National Secretariat, had not yet arrived to commence the proceedings. The primary is expected to formally start once the committee members are in place, as the party prepares to present its candidate for the upcoming governorship race.
