The meeting adds to a series of past engagements between Obasanjo and PDP leaders. Ahead of the party’s presidential primaries in 2022, Obasanjo met privately with some PDP governors in Abeokuta, including Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Samuel Ortom of Benue State, and former Cross River State Governor Donald Duke.

Earlier that same year, Obasanjo had also received a PDP delegation led by then party chairman Iyorchia Ayu and members of the National Working Committee, during which he made it clear that he would not return to the party.

As of the time of reporting, there is no word from either the PDP leaders or Obasanjo on the outcome of the latest meeting.
