The All Progressives Congress in Osun State has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of working through allies to launch attacks on the party’s governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, and former governor Adegboyega Oyetola. The allegation was made by the APC state chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, in a statement released in Osogbo.
Lawal claimed that the governor and those around him were reacting to what the party described as their weak political standing in the state. He alleged that supporters of the governor were sponsoring negative commentaries and verbal attacks against Oyetola, who now serves as Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, as well as Oyebamiji, who recently emerged as the APC governorship candidate through a consensus process.
The APC chairman further said the actions of the governor’s camp were driven by anxiety and an attempt to divert attention from what the party described as the poor handling of state affairs under the current administration. He added that the situation reflected a lack of planning and direction in governance.
In response, the Osun State chairman of the Accord Party, Victor Akande, dismissed the APC’s claims and described the accusations as a sign of panic within the opposition. He argued that the verbal attacks coming from the APC camp showed frustration rather than political strength.
Akande also defended the Adeleke administration by listing projects and policies he said were carried out by the current government. He compared these with the period when the APC controlled the state, insisting that the present administration had delivered better outcomes for residents.
The exchange has added to rising political tension in Osun State as parties position themselves ahead of future elections.
