Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and the Kwankwasiyya State Caucus have dismissed rumours suggesting that he or his supporters are planning to defect to another political party. The caucus said the issue was discussed during a meeting in Kano, where members agreed that the reports were false and should be ignored.
The group explained that claims of defection did not come from any authorised source and were against the values of the Kwankwasiyya Movement. It added that some individuals may have made such claims due to wrong information or outside pressure, but no action would be taken against them. However, members were advised to avoid making public statements without approval and to help correct false reports.
The caucus stated that Kwankwaso and the entire movement remain loyal to the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP. It stressed that no person has been given permission to speak or act on defection matters and that any future political decision will only be announced through official channels.
On the internal crisis within the NNPP in Kano, the caucus said the party’s national leadership has dissolved all state, local government, and ward executives. As a result, it noted that there is currently no recognised NNPP leadership in Kano. The group warned individuals and groups against claiming to represent the party.
Members were urged to stay calm, united, and disciplined, and to avoid spreading rumours or engaging with the media without approval.
