About 700 residents of Surulere Local Government Area received free medical services during a health outreach organised by the Akpabio Cares Initiative, a humanitarian programme run by the office of Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
The outreach, held on Saturday, offered beneficiaries free medical consultations, prescription drugs, and eyeglasses. The programme is part of a series of interventions by Akpabio Cares, following previous editions in Osogbo, Osun State, and Yankaba, Kano State.
The organisers said the initiative aims to support communities across Nigeria and bring health services to vulnerable groups. The Lagos outreach specifically targeted 700 people, providing them with access to basic healthcare and vision support.
Officials noted that the programme is national in scope, reflecting the responsibilities of the Senate President to impact communities beyond his home state of Akwa Ibom. Residents who received care expressed gratitude to Akpabio and the organisers, praising the programme for its contribution to the wellbeing of the community.
The initiative is expected to continue across the country, with the next outreach planned for the North Central region.
