The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Wednesday in Asari Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State, said only candidates backed by his Rainbow Coalition would win elective offices in the state during the 2027 general elections.
Wike spoke during a thank-you visit to the area, where he explained that the Rainbow Coalition operates under the Renewed Hope Family, a political platform he formed to support President Bola Tinubu’s second-term bid in Rivers State. According to him, the arrangement brings together members of different political parties under one structure, setting aside party divisions for a common goal.
He said political actors in Rivers had moved away from party loyalty and were now working together for the collective interest of the state through the Renewed Hope Family. Wike maintained that after President Tinubu’s reelection, the coalition would also produce winners for all elective positions in Rivers in 2027, adding that those outside the group should not expect electoral success.
The minister reminded the people of the benefits Rivers State had received since supporting Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election. He assured them that better outcomes were expected ahead and thanked residents for remaining committed to the political direction they chose for the state’s development.
Wike also praised community leaders for standing by him during the last elections, noting that their decision was already producing results. He encouraged them to remain united and promised to stand with them when the time comes.
Earlier, the Chairman of Asari Toru Local Government Council, Onengiyeofori George, appreciated Wike for his contributions to the area and assured him that the people were fully united under the Renewed Hope Family.
Also speaking, Michael West, who represents Asari Toru Constituency II in the Rivers State House of Assembly, commended Wike for mobilising support for President Tinubu. He described the minister as a strong leader and praised his role in the emergence of an Ijaw governor in the state since Nigeria returned to democratic rule. West assured Wike of the continued loyalty and support of the people.
