Leaders of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State on Monday came together to declare support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election. The gathering took place during the Renewed Hope Ambassadors’ Unity Rally held in different locations across Ibadan, the state capital.
The rally was led by a former Senate Leader and the party’s governorship candidate in the 2023 election, Teslim Folarin, alongside other party leaders. They assured party members that internal disputes had been resolved and that efforts were now focused on working together to return the President for a second term.
Party leaders said the rally was part of steps to strengthen unity within the APC, rebuild trust among members, and begin early preparations for both the presidential and governorship elections in 2027. They also noted that the exercise would help restore the party’s strength across the state.
Earlier, a former state chairman of the APC, Akin Oke, had called on party members to set aside their differences and work together ahead of the next elections. He made the appeal at the start of the rally in Ogbomoso North Local Government Area, urging members to focus on reclaiming Oyo State.
Participants at the rally included party leaders and supporters from the five local government areas in the Ogbomoso zone, namely Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South, Oriire, Ogo-Oluwa and Surulere.
Addressing party supporters, Folarin explained that the rally was designed to promote peace within the party and lay the groundwork for organised mobilisation ahead of 2027. He said Oyo State had shown strong support for Tinubu during the 2023 election and that the party intended to increase its vote count in the next polls.
He also acknowledged that the current administration’s policies were demanding but said they were aimed at fixing the economy and setting the country on a stable path. According to him, explaining these policies clearly at the grassroots level would help people understand and support the government’s actions.
A former First Lady of Oyo State, Florence Ajimobi, also urged party members to remain united, stressing that discipline and cooperation were necessary to keep the party strong in the state.
Speaking at the event, a governorship aspirant, Akeem Agbaje, said the APC in Oyo State was united and ready for the coming elections. He stated that party members were fully behind President Tinubu and believed he should be given the chance to continue his work beyond 2027.
Several serving and former lawmakers, including Senators Fatai Buhari, Sharafadeen Alli and Yunus Akintunde, described the rally as timely. They said it had helped restore confidence within the party and encouraged members to stay committed.
They also called on party supporters to take voter registration seriously, noting that early preparation and consistent engagement at the grassroots level would play a major role in winning future elections.
The Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, praised the peaceful conduct of the rally and said unity and early mobilisation were key to electoral success. He added that the series of rallies across the state had boosted morale among party members and expressed optimism that the process would continue smoothly as the party prepares for 2027.
