ADC and Obidient Movement Coalition Will Unseat APC – Odigie-Oyegun

Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former National Chairman of the APC, has expressed confidence that the alliance between the ADC and the Obidient Movement will unseat the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
Speaking in Benin during the mass defection of Obidient Movement members into the ADC in Edo State, Odigie-Oyegun welcomed the influx of youth and supporters, calling it a sign that Nigerians are ready to engage in the struggle for leadership change and national renewal.
“A new Nigeria is truly possible,” he said, highlighting the calibre of people joining the party. He noted the recent joining of media personality Dele Momodu and praised the commitment of youth from the Obidient Movement.
Edo State Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Asemota Idiogbe, said the ADC provides the best platform to challenge the APC both in Edo State and nationally. He expressed optimism that Peter Obi would be the party’s presidential candidate and stressed that the movement had fully merged into the ADC.
Edo State ADC Chairman Kenneth Odion and State Woman Leader Faith Ebodaghe also welcomed the Obidient Movement, urging women to actively participate in the political struggle. Ebodaghe described the ADC as a “rescue platform” aimed at confronting the APC, likening it to David confronting Goliath.
The Obidient Movement had played a key role in Peter Obi’s strong performance in the 2023 presidential election, where he finished third behind President Bola Tinubu (APC) and Atiku Abubakar (PDP).
