The All Progressives Congress says it is fully prepared to win the 2026 governorship election in Osun State, according to the senator representing Osun East Senatorial District, Francis Fadahunsi.
Fadahunsi made this known during an interview in which he said the party was intensifying efforts to build support across communities through voter education and mobilisation. He stated that structures were being strengthened at the grassroots level to boost the party’s chances in the poll.
The senator also spoke on security challenges in his senatorial district, revealing that about 15 people had been killed in different incidents across the 10 local government areas under his watch as of December last year. He linked the violence to poor governance and said steps were being taken to address the situation.
He dismissed claims of internal crisis within the APC in Obokun Local Government Area, maintaining that the party remained united and focused on the election. According to him, the APC leadership at the national level was determined to regain Osun, and party members were committed to that goal.
Fadahunsi added that preparations were ongoing to formally inaugurate the party’s campaign committee, after which full campaign activities would commence in line with the timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
He expressed confidence in the APC governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, describing him as capable and fit to lead the state. He urged party supporters to remain confident and work together to secure victory.
Osun voters are expected to elect a new governor on August 8, 2026. The incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke, is seeking another term on the platform of the Accord Party, while Bola Oyebamiji is flying the APC flag. A former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Najeem Salaam, is also in the race under the African Democratic Congress.
