Ebonyi ADC Sets Up Transition Committee, Warns Against Sabotage

The African Democratic Congress in Ebonyi State has set up a State Transition Committee as part of preparations for its ward, local government and state congresses ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party leadership also warned members against actions that could weaken its structure or frustrate its plans.

The state leader of the party, Sunday Opoke, said the move was aimed at rebuilding and strengthening the ADC in Ebonyi. He stated that the party is preparing to offer what it believes is better leadership at both the state and national levels. He urged members to remain loyal and avoid internal conflicts that could divide the party.

Opoke alleged that some individuals claiming to be leaders of the ADC in the state are working for the government and trying to disrupt the party’s progress.

He claimed that certain persons serving as aides or appointees under the current administration are presenting themselves as party executives in different local government areas.

According to him, this situation has created confusion and discouraged new members from joining.

He said the country is facing hardship, insecurity and economic challenges, adding that many public systems are not working as expected.

He maintained that the ADC wants to provide an alternative platform for Nigerians who are dissatisfied with the current state of affairs.

He warned that anyone pretending to belong to the ADC while secretly working for another political party would not be tolerated.

While inaugurating the Transition Committee, Chief Ogbonnia Oko Enyim described the step as necessary to restore order within the party.

He said the committee has the task of rebuilding structures across the 13 local government areas of Ebonyi State and preparing the party for credible congresses. He added that the ADC would not allow its platform to be taken over for personal interests.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the ADC Movement in Ebonyi State, Barrister Solomon Adum, called on members to remain united and focused.

He advised them not to give in to pressure or intimidation from political opponents. He assured that the party would use legal means to defend its members and protect its activities.

The event ended with party leaders reaffirming their commitment to strengthening internal structures and mobilising support across the state as preparations continue for the 2027 elections.
