Jigawa APC Finalises Peaceful LG Congresses in 27 Councils

The All Progressives Congress in Jigawa State on Saturday concluded its local government congresses across all 27 councils of the state, with party officials elected in a peaceful exercise held at council headquarters.

The congresses took place in the various local government areas as part of the party’s internal process to choose new executives.

Observations from several councils, including Ringim, Taura, Gagarawa, Jahun and Miga, showed that party leaders emerged mainly through consensus in line with the party’s guidelines.

Party members gathered at their respective local government headquarters where voting and affirmation of candidates were carried out without reports of violence or disruption. The exercise followed the ward congresses earlier conducted across the state’s 287 wards.

A member of the Jigawa State House of Assembly representing Kanya Babba Constituency, who also heads the House Committee on Information and chaired the APC Congress Committee in Miga Local Government, linked the calm atmosphere during the congresses to the leadership style of Governor Umar Namadi.

He said the level of peace within the party reflects the unity among members in the state.

Some local government party chairmen also expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the congresses. They noted that the process strengthened unity among members and pledged to work closely with the newly elected executives to prepare the party for the 2027 general elections.

An APC stakeholder in the state, Hon. Yahaya Gidan Maza, said recent political movements in Jigawa have increased support for the ruling party.

He pointed to what he described as ongoing development projects in the state as a factor drawing key figures from opposition parties to align with the APC.

He added that the party remains confident of victory in future elections.
He advised the new executives to promote unity within the party and ensure that all members feel included in decision-making processes.

According to him, cooperation among party leaders and members will help maintain stability and strengthen the party’s structure ahead of upcoming polls.

The completion of the local government congresses marks another stage in the APC’s reorganisation efforts in Jigawa State as it prepares for future political contests.
