Shettima, Obasanjo, Jonathan to Attend Soludo’s Second-Term Inauguration

Vice President Kashim Shettima, along with former Nigerian presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, are scheduled to attend the second-term inauguration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo in Anambra State. The event willtake place at the recently renovated Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka.

Sources at the Government House in Awka confirmed that several prominent personalities will be present at the ceremony. Shettima will represent President Bola Tinubu at the occasion, while other guests will include elder statesmen such as former Commonwealth Secretary-General, Chief Emeka Anyaoku.

Traditional rulers from all 179 communities in Anambra, as well as monarchs from other states, are expected to attend.

Residents and visitors have started celebrating across Awka, with streets filled in anticipation of the ceremony. Governor Soludo, who recently completed his first term, has pledged to build on his achievements and address security challenges during his new tenure.

The All Progressives Grand Alliance has mobilized members from all 326 political wards in the state to participate in the event.

Security has been increased across Awka, with the police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps, and other agencies deployed to strategic locations to ensure a smooth inauguration.

Soludo won re-election on November 8, 2025, under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.
