Those listed as defendants include the factional chairman, the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, the PDP, the Rivers State Government, and chairmen and officials from some local government councils.

During the latest court session, lawyers representing the PDP and the affected councils told the court they only received the case documents in mid-March. They asked for more time to prepare their response on legal issues raised in the suit.

The request for adjournment was not opposed by the lawyer representing the claimants, allowing the court to proceed without delay.
The presiding judge, Stephen Jumbo, granted the request and fixed April 14 for the hearing of all pending applications. The court is also expected to make decisions on preliminary issues before moving to the main case.
The outcome of the case is expected to determine the validity of the candidates presented for the local government elections and could affect the political situation in the state.
