The faction’s National Publicity Secretary spoke during a television interview where he dismissed claims that the group is aligned with the ruling party ahead of the next presidential race. He said the PDP remains focused on presenting its own candidate and contesting the election independently.
He explained that talks linking the faction to support for the ruling party or portraying it as an extension of the government are not true. According to him, such claims are meant to damage the image of the party and its leaders.
He added that the PDP needs time to complete its internal processes, including organising its primaries, after which its direction will become clearer to the public.
The spokesman also appealed to Nigerians to be patient and not rely on circulating reports about the party’s position. He maintained that the PDP remains committed to participating fully in the 2027 elections.
The statement comes amid ongoing political tension and discussions about alliances and party strength ahead of the next general election cycle.
